Windows 10 Configuration Guide

Use Windows 10 Built in VPN Functionality

(Vest VPN will work on all versions of Windows from Windows 7 and up. This guide is for Windows 10 users but other Windows versions are similar to configure)

1. Go to your notification icon

Click on the icon that looks like a small speech bubble which is located in the lower right corner of your screen (in what is known as the 'system tray').

2. Open 'All Settings'

Click the icon titled 'All Settings'. A window will appear.

3. Click 'Network & Internet'

Click the 'Network & Internet' icon.

4. Select 'VPN' then 'Add a VPN Connection'

Select the option called 'VPN'. Then click on 'Add a VPN Connection'.

5. Fill in the blanks

Select 'Windows (built-in)' for the 'VPN Provider'.

In the 'Connection Name' box, type: VestVPN.

In the 'Internet address' box, type one of the three server options listed below, depending on the security level you require:

Safe Protection
For anonymous browsing and website unlocking. Includes encryption and anonymous IP address.
Safer Protection
For anonymous browsing, internet banking and WiFi hotspot surfing. Includes encryption, anonymous IP address, ad filtering and third party tracking blocker.
Safest Protection
For anonymous browsing and families. Includes encryption, anonymous IP address, ad filtering, third party tracking blocker and cyber nanny to block adult content.

In the 'VPN Type' box, select 'L2TP/IPSec with pre-shared key'

In the 'Pre-shared key' box, type: vestvpn

Finally click the 'Save' button.

6. How to connect

Click 'Connect'.

7. Enter your user ID and password

When prompted, enter your unique user ID (it will have been sent to you in an email and it is made up of a mixture of random letters and numbers). Finally, type the password you specified when you signed up for your Vest Pass. Click 'Connect'. You'll now be connected to Vest after a few seconds.

8. Reconnecting

When you switch networks or turn your device off and on, reconnect to Vest by going to the network icon in your system tray (lower right hand corner - it looks like a little WiFi symbol, or if you're on an wired internet connection, like a little computer), click on it, then click on the Vest entry and finally click 'Connect'.
